Details:

To better meet the needs of the regional information technology community, the Center for Application of Information Technology (CAIT) at Washington University in St. Louis will become the Professional Education Technology and Leadership Center Oct. 1.

In addition to the new name, the Professional Education Technology and Leadership Center will offer new classes and will move to a newly renovated, state-of-the-art training center on the Danforth Campus in Lopata Hall. Beginning next year, the schedule will include new technical and leadership courses in topics such as organizational behavior, managing teams, high performance computing and more. Classes will begin to be scheduled in the new facility by the end of the year, phasing out classes at the West Campus location.

The transition to the new brand demonstrates the university’s commitment to the information technology community and expansion into other industry segments.

The center will also launch the Data Science and Analytics Roundtable, which was developed in collaboration with leading St. Louis companies and the Olin Business School to help address concerns and questions about how to interpret and manage “big data,” or the enormous amount of data that corporations are collecting.

“For more than 35 years we have helped technical professionals in St. Louis receive the highest quality training through the Center for Application of Information Technology and its predecessor organization, the Center for the Study of Data Processing,” says Johnnie Foster, director. "We are not going away — we will continue to provide the highest quality training and collaborative learning environment for the information technology community and will increase our training programs in other areas, including leadership, professional development, project management and business analysis."

As part of the change, students and partners will begin to see a new identity in marketing materials, a new web site and advertising beginning Oct. 1. Visitors will be able to register and pay for courses online, search for courses and view their own personal account information.

“We are proud of the strong and lasting relationships we have built, what we have been able to help our students accomplish and are more committed than ever to being the premier training center in the St. Louis area,” Foster says.
