Ron Cytron, PhD, professor of computer science & engineering, has been awarded the 2014 Emerson Award for Teaching Excellence.
The award recognizes teachers for their passion for teaching, their impact on student learning, and their knowledge and creativity. Cytron is among more than 100 educators in the St. Louis metropolitan area – from kindergarten teachers to college professors – honored as examples of excellence in their field. They were recognized Nov. 16.
Cytron has led changes in the way some engineering courses are taught by shortening lectures and allowing more time for students to work together to solve problems. In addition, he worked with two students to create the WUTexter system, an application that allows students to interact with the professor during lectures.
