Details:

Washington University in St. Louis introduced a single stream recycling process in January 2010. Used batteries are not included in the single stream program and cannot be placed in recycling bins on campus. Instead, batteries - among other materials - must be processed separately for recycling.

To make the process more convenient for Engineering students, faculty and staff, used batteries will now be collected at Engineering IT at Lopata Hall, Room 408. Once a semester, the batteries will be sent to the South 40 depository. Currently, batteries are collected in the South 40 depository and delivered to an outside vendor for appropriate processing.
